The Global Conversation is an online media platform for Brown University students, faculty, and alums to share their international ideas and initiatives.
I've had the privilege of calling the two cities I am absolutely, irreversibly in-love with my homes: Sai Gon, Viet Nam, and Oakland, California. Concentrating in Sociology and Ethnic Studies, my research focuses on the narratives of people often excluded from conversations that are most pertinent to their realities and experiences. At Brown, I have been involved in projects looking at how socioeconomic status relates to self-esteem for students at elite colleges and the relationship Rhode Island youth with incarcerated parents have with public school district's performance overall. Currently, my main project analyzes the role of social networks and kinships influence personal narratives for non-heterosexual Vietnamese people living in Viet Nam.
