“A good traveller is one who does not know the destination, and a perfect traveller does not know where he came from.” – Lin Yutang
Hi, I'm Hilary-- I'm originally from New York City, currently reside in the small island nation of Cayman, and go to school in New England, but I consider myself someone who can adapt to anywhere, and if I'm not roaming for too long I feel uneasy. I enjoy photography, film, fashion, music, the ocean, road trips, good stories and good books. Henry David Thoreau is my idol, but not my only one. I'm a senior at Brown University concentrating in Environmental Studies/Visual Arts; i'm not sure what I want to do in the world- whether it is be a veterinarian like my mother, a photojournalist, or even be a stand-up comedian- but I know I want to contribute to the world in some valuable way through art, science, and my voice. I'm an AT&T New Media Fellow, and I'm going to one of my favorite places in the world- Tasmania, Australia, to document and research the Tasmanian Devil's cancerous facial tumor disease, try to find solutions to this threat to biodiversity, and discover what it means for the people and wildlife involved. Follow me as my adventures unfold with the untamed outback, a notoriously grumpy animal, cutting-edge technology, and omnipresent bureaucracy.
