Finishing Up at Masdar

Just a few more days left here at Masdar City! I fly out on Sunday, which is the first day of classes here at the Institute.

The last few days have been spent frantically trying to finish up the biomaterials research (pictured above: one of our very generous scale donors). We finished taking most of the data very late last night (a painful but worthwhile sprint) and still have a few days left to try to make some sense of what we observed. I am looking forward to it. I have enjoyed the research here much more than I expected.

As for the city itself, I am very curious to see what this place will look like in ten years. The university is certainly in a state of tension right now, and to me, it seems that somehow this tension must be resolved and the school itself will be fundamentally changed as a result.

All in all, I am very grateful to have had a chance to explore this young and fast moving part of the world.
